Artefacts

This section of the site is dedicated to the inevitable detritus and debris of online existence – pieces of myself from long ago.

Five Stories I’ll Write Someday
The very first short story I ever had published, this ancient piece of prose featured in the eighth issue of Cuckoo Quarterly, a now-defunct literary magazine written and edited by young people, back in March or April of 2013. It felt a little too old to bundle in with my more recent publications – I didn’t have another piece published anywhere for three years after this – but I still wanted to share it.

10 Weird Epidemics That Remain A Mystery
During my second year of university I decided to try making some money copywriting, which resulted in this – here it comes – listicle on weird sicknesses and mass hysteria events throughout history I had published through Listverse in May 2016. Whilst it isn’t exactly a high point in my writing career, it was technically my first professional paid writing gig, so it seems worth acknowledging.

HerCampus Lancaster Interview
Also during my second year of university, I was the social secretary for the Lancaster University Writers’ Society, which led to me being interviewed by the student journal HerCampus as part of a series of articles with campus celebrities (I should stress that I was not, in any way shape or form, a campus celebrity, and that this article happened because one of the girls I lived with was a HerCampus contributor and, through no fault of her own, hadn’t had the chance to interview anybody more ineresting yet). I suppose this should technically be in the interviews section of the site, but it’s a little too old, a little too not-me anymore, to be appropriate. I hope it amuses you all the same.
