This Week: Open Mics in Lancaster!

Hi all! Now the site’s live I can start making posts keeping you all up to date on all the FUN THINGS I’m getting up to. For example: this week I’ll be shambling along to two different open mic nights in Lancaster!

On Friday 21st I’ll be reading at the Lancaster University Writers’ Society’s termly open mic, hosted this time around by the Trough of Bowland at the university campus. I’ve been a member of the LU Writers’ Soc since my first year at university, and some of the best memories from my time as a student were formed by and with the people I met through the society. This is my last chance to take part in one of these open mics before I move to Edinburgh in September, so it means a lot to be able to attend. I’ll be reading brand new material from some of my various projects! I’m excited!

The day after, on Saturday 22nd, I’ll be attending (and maybe reading at) Alternative Pride Lancaster’s open mic, hosted by the Dukes in town centre. Alternative Pride Lancaster, described by its creators as a space “for those who don’t feel they can attend mainstream pride events due to corporate sponsors pink washing, high police presence or lack of accessibility,” is running in tandem with Lancaster’s pride parade this weekend. I’m really looking forward to it!

If you’re around in Lancaster on either of these dates and fancy meeting some cool people and listening to some cool writing, why not come and join me?
